Costume in my film

Our film is going to be in the 'Post Apocalyptic' genre of films. Therefore the costumes we will be using will not be modern or in any good state at all as a result of this. Depending on what point in time my film is set in, it will massively affect the choice of my costumes. Such as if it is decided that we want to set our film in the future than we will need futuristic looking clothing. If our film is set in a present apocalypse of our time then the costumes can be relatable however the clothes could be mangled in appearance in order to give the audience an impression that the characters are actually going through a struggle their clothes haven't sustained themselves well through the obstacles faced. Or the costumes could be specifically suited to the climate/environment my group members are living in. For example the costumes in the film 'The Road' consists of warm clothing which is a big coat, scarfs, a beanie hat, boots for warmth in the snow and gloves. Furthermore, they have make up on their faces conveying the idea that they do not bathe much as they don't have the resources they once had before the apocalypse began.

The makeup idea I have to put forward is a white makeup which makes characters look pale. This paleness could represent a lot such as sleep deprivation, dehydration, and starvation.

Camouflage costumes will be used in our film to match the Sherwood pine scenery which is in a forest. Also, wearing boots showing the character is suited to their environment.

Stereotypes of audience
Music in Film

In the beginning of the preliminary film, we will be starting off with an establishing shot, allowing the audience to effectively get a sense of how this film may go which will be a mysterious scene. We then will be adding the innocence of a sister to sister bond to this scene, the innocence of the two will lead the audience to knowing something bad will happen to them as the two do not know about the mysterious showings in the forest they are travelling in before hand. From their gentle stroll the two sisters will feel a sense of something wrong about this forest they are in, especially when a mask is found near a tree that has no one its belongs to. The older sister then encourages her little sister to go back home as she knows something is up. All problems seem to be gone and the two happily go home.
This is showing the storyboard I have made following my preliminary task, the storyboard shows a young man getting a job. The young man succeeds after this dream and gets this job interview. However he encounters a serious and life threatening situation when one man in a mask appears to be following him on his journey. The main character begins to run and finds himself trapped in an abandoned factory after running in desperation to escape his soon to be attacker. In confusion however he finds that there is more than one attacker.
Image result for age ratings for films
Brotherhood has an age rating of 15 meaning it is unsuitable for under 15s. I believe the film has been given this age rating due to the massive amount of violence and sexual content within the film, as the legal age to have sex is 16, if the film was any lower it could cause problems around the UK such as an increase in underage sex cases. Also due to the fact that the film encourages a mass amount of violence it has a massive influence on teenagers especially since it features icons such as UK rapper Stormzy, people look up to him so may follow in the gang violence he incorporates in the film.
Action Match

A shot that cuts to another continuing piece of action movement between shots. This then allows the audience to see a smooth action despite a cut in the shot, used mostly in over the shoulder shots.

Cross Cutting/Parallel Editing

Where the editor cuts between two separate scenes in two separate locations at the same time. This illustrates a contrast and link between them.

Jump Cut

A cut that moves to the very similar part of the same scene but missing a piece of action.

Fast Pace Cut
To increase the speed of the action and to build up tension and excitement within the audience.

Wipe
Used to move the action on without a jump cut making

Dissolve

Visual Effects
Graphics on screen.

Graphic Match
A cut from scene to another that usually look the same e.g. blowing out a match, and then too a sun set.

Preliminary task

Pros and Cons of my Preliminary Task:

Pros:
The scenes from my preliminary film fit in well with the genre which is a thriller. The various camera angles chosen in the film create a sense of mystery which is what thrillers are about, creating a sense of mystery to the audience without revealing the full plot/ story behind the present events. For example, the ending scene of my film. The characters clearly have a connection as the facial expressions of the other character change as he surely knows who the man behind the mask is. Furthermore, the audience has no idea if this person is wearing the mask due to a deformation of the face somehow or what he looks like, even what the other character has did that was so bad to result in his fate? many questions are raised.
Another pro of my film is the chosen setting of which it is in when the main character is getting chased and followed in an abandoned building. The building looks mysterious and it is very dark inside, representing a place anyone would not want to be in especially if you know someone is in pursuit of you. They can come at you from anywhere as the darkness acts as a cloak. The importance of darkness in my film is shown in the scene when the man in the skull mask is waiting against the wall behind the door the main character enters in.

Codes and Conventions of Post Apocalyptic movies

Abandoned/ Derelict Locations:

Abandoned and derelict locations play a big role in all Post Apocalyptic movies as this is where most the action takes place as it sets the scene of a deserted and destroyed, emphasising on all that remains creating a world that we would say is unrecognisable in comparison to the big buildings and busy streets/cities we have in the modern day.

Mise en Scene

Mise en Scene

This photo was taken for my Mise en Scene homework, the red background in my photo represents danger and mystery. Which I thought was essential to represent colours of a post apocalyptic film; as that is the mental image most post apocalyptic films create when watching them. The red can also represent hell, that many characters in post apocalyptic films may feel like they are experiencing as well as the audience.

Introduction

Introduction

Hello, i am Saige Crockwell and i am a student at Ashfield School, currently studying A level Media. I have chosen this course because i have studied IMedia before hand. I had enjoyed studying it therefore i thought why not try Media on a not so very computer based side? Attempt to get on a more technical and practical side. I am very passionate when it comes to films i have watched behind the scenes of some films also as i am always curious as to how the movie is made to look so amazing; from the camera angles to the computer based technology used in all films to date. Now by choosing AS Media i am able to get a hands on experience. Straying away from the educational perspective. My hobbies include playing football, video-games, hanging with my friends and occasionally partying.

I enjoying eating food, especially from restaurants such as: TGI Friday's, Nando's and Fast food restaurants such as Mcdonalds and KFC when i am feeling piggy. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family and friends as i never know when it can be my last. I dislike waking up in the morning to be honest as my body cant endure the pain. However I am very much into fashionable clothing and shoes so that's the only thing I like waking up for.Image result for jordan ferrari
